According to the IPMA's Azores Meteorological Forecast and Surveillance Center, on Friday, "the circulation associated with a depression centered north of the archipelago will transport a mass of maritime polar air towards the Azores region", which will cause "a significant drop in air temperature on all islands".
This situation could lead to the occurrence of "showers, which could be hail and, above the 600, 800 and 1000 meter altitudes, could be snow" in the Western (Flores and Corvo), Central (Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa and Faial) and Eastern (São Miguel and Santa Maria) groups, IPMA said in a statement.
Minimum temperatures "should vary between 5ºC and 7ºC and maximum temperatures between 12ºC and 14ºC" in Santa Cruz das Flores, Horta (Faial), Angra do Heroísmo (Terceira) and Ponta Delgada (São Miguel island), according to IPMA.
"However, as the wind will blow strongly with gusts that can reach 90 kilometres per hour, the temperature felt will be lower, varying throughout the day between 2ºC and 9ºC".
