On this visit, the official hopes to highlight the “successes” of the Portuguese community in the United States, but also “the difficulties they have faced and continue to face”.

“The challenge we have in this community of ours, which is very well integrated, and with an assimilation with the North American community, is that this good integration does not mean disconnecting from its Portuguese identity”, he stressed.
