More than 200 events will be taking place this month in the Algarve, with highlights including the Sardine festival, Fatacil exhibition and the return of Medieval Days.
One of the biggest events in the region will be taking place
in Castro Marim, with the Medieval Days, from 24 to 28 August bringing to life
the Algarvian village with the exhibition of arts and crafts, theatrical and
musical shows and banquets as guests journey into the Middle Ages.
This month also sees the return of the Medieval Fair of Silves from 10 to 20 August, with 11 days of historical recreation taking place in the former capital of the Kingdom of the Algarve. A journey through time that invites you to experience a chance to step back in time with tournaments and shows at the castle, travelling entertainment, medieval taverns and much more.
The Sardine Festival, the biggest summer gastronomic event in the Algarve, returns to liven up the riverside area of Portimão from August 3 to 7. During the five days of the festival, grilled sardines dripping on bread are once again the star of the show, but there is far more to enjoy here with street entertainment, live music and musical stars taking to the stage.
Fatacil will be back again in Lagoa, an event which brings together trade exhibitions, live handicrafts, agriculture, equestrian shows, regional cuisine, street entertainment and concerts. From the 19 to 28 of August, visitors are also able to enjoy big name acts including Expensive Soul (19th), Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo (20th), João Pedro Pais (21st), Profjam (22nd ), Quim Barreiros (23), Plutónio (24), Bárbara Bandeira (25), Resistência (26), Fernando Daniel (27) and Tony Carreira (28).
There will also be great live music this month in
Tavira. The Palácio da Galeria Park is
one of the main stages of the event, where it will be possible to attend concerts
by The Gift (August 3rd), by the Algarve composer, singer and producer Diogo
Piçarra (11) and by Dino D´Santiago (17).
As well as these highlights, there are plenty of other great
events taking place all across the Algarve during August. Find out more about what is happening by visiting
