“Our idea is that the turnover of technology will exceed our
main sector, which is tourism, within five years, and I think we will do it sooner”,
said Miguel Albuquerque.
The president of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP) said
that, according to the latest data available, Madeiran technology companies
have a turnover of more than €309 million, and it is possible that they
currently exceed €350 million.
“Right now, Madeira has all the conditions to continue to be
very attractive to technological companies”, he considered, arguing that the
region “has a set of variants that are very attractive to investors: quality of
life, a good health system, safety, good digital connections and a tax regime
that is appealing”.
“Therefore, if we look at these five conditions of
attractiveness, they are very important to host companies here”, reinforced Miguel
Albuquerque.
“Right now, Madeira has all the conditions to continue to be very attractive to technological companies” - by "technological" read "crypto", and that's about to reverse when they bring in all the new taxes.
