‘tis the
night after Christmas another year gone
Presents all
opened, friends returned home
Turkey was
scrumptious, pud a delight
Now shirt
buttons are popping and trousers too tight
Father C has
flown back to the land far away
Preparing
already for next Christmas Day
‘tis the
night after Christmas and a time to reflect
On the
friends we have lost and the things we regret
The tears that
were shed from the words that we said
Those little
misdeeds that made us see red
We could
have done better, we could have done more
But listen
to me I’m becoming a bore
‘tis the
night after Christmas, it’ll soon be New Year
once more
we’ll be raising our glasses to cheer
out with the
old and in with the new
a time for a
change a time to renew?
I resolve to
be better, not grumpy and thrawn
To try and
be kinder, try not to moan
Look on the
bright side we are all still here
And all
being well we will still be next year
‘tis the
night after Christmas and I wish you the best
I’m back to my bed for an overdue rest.
