Lisbon Tourism has announced that the Portuguese capital was voted the most romantic in Europe. The claim is based on a study developed by the Catamaran Charter Croatia group, which analysed data provided by TripAdvisor on the most romantic restaurants and hotels in European capitals.

"Seeing Lisbon be considered the most romantic capital in Europe obviously makes us very honoured and confirms what we have been saying in recent years. Lisbon has a wide variety of options for all segments and motivations", says the executive director of Turismo de Lisboa, Paula Oliveira, quoted in a statement to Notícias ao Minuto.

"Despite having the 9th smallest area of the cities included in the study, it is the capital with the highest proportion of restaurants and romantic hotels per million inhabitants", concludes the statement.
