The work covers about 60 kilometres of the western coast of the Algarve and should be completed within 240 days (eight months), estimated the municipality in a statement.

“The work on the ecovia on the southwest coast is underway in the municipality of Aljezur, with work starting in the area of Carrapateira and Pontal da Carrapateira”, said the Aljezur Chamber, in the district of Faro.

The same source indicated that the work aims to “improve the layout of the road, providing better circulation conditions for users, who will be able to visit and enjoy the area with more safety and comfort”.

The start of work comes eight months after the Council of Aljezur approved the execution projects to build around 76 kilometres of cycle paths on the coast of the municipality, located in the southwest of the Algarve.
