According to a statement that Notícias ao Minuto had access to, the company signed a collaboration protocol with Associação Viver em Alegria, within the scope of this inauguration.

"The new store will donate, daily, and from the first day, essential goods to this association that supports around 120 families with socio-economic needs, contributing not only locally but also in neighbouring municipalities".

The supermarket will be located at Rua Dr.ª Cristina Torres, in Figueira da Foz.

This will be the second opening of the year for the Spanish brand, after opening the Marco de Canaveses store, in the Porto district.

Mercadona intends to open a dozen stores in Portugal this year, as it did last year.
