The resort is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2024. The development will cater to staff, including top and middle management staff, some of whom will be given the opportunity to bring their families along. Accommodation will be provided in the form of suites and houses, ensuring a comfortable home for all employees and their families living at the resort.

9 million Euros invested

Verdelago Resort has invested around €9 million in their employee housing project. This includes the purchase of two buildings close to the resort, as well as the construction of the new complex in Castro Marim. This staff accommodation is being developed in conjunction with the town hall on a plot of 7 hectares.

All the perks of premium accommodation

Setting itself apart from traditional employee accommodations, Verdelago's mini-resort will boast a range of amenities, including swimming pools and sports fields. The aim of this project was to build accommodation with the characteristics of premium tourist resorts, from the ground up.

The two additional buildings purchased are located just a short distance from Verdelago resort. One is situated in the nearby parish of Altura, which can be reached in five minutes by bike or 20 minutes walking. The other building is a villa adjacent to Verdelago Resort, which is currently being used as an office space.

Tackling the issue of accommodation costs

The price and availability of accommodation has long been identified as a significant obstacle to recruiting talent in the Algarve region.

In its first year Verdelago Resort will provide accommodation for over 2000 people, leading to the creation of approximately 600 direct and permanent jobs. There will be a strong preference for local employment, and this initiative will significantly contribute to reducing unemployment rates in one of the Algarve's economically underdeveloped municipalities.

Verdelago Resort hopes this decision will have a lasting impact on both employees and the surrounding community and foster local economic growth.
