Madeira, which is the current holder of the trophy, competes this year with destinations such as Athens, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Kotor, London, Monte Carlo, Nice, Oslo and Rome, with the Portuguese capital also nominated for this award.

This nomination considers Rui Barreto, Regional Secretary for the Economy of Madeira, “proves the quality of the work carried out by Madeira in promoting the Region as a cruise destination”.

“After having received this distinction in 2022, being nominated for the second consecutive year reinforces our conviction that we have made the right bets. Madeira's investment in the economy of the sea and in quality tourism is, and will continue to be, one of the pillars of our governance”, guarantees the regional official.

It should be recalled that, in the 2022/2023 season, the ports of Madeira recorded a movement of 557,824 passengers, more than double the 284,056 passengers that had passed through the region's ports in the previous season, which represents a growth of 104% compared to the same period.
