SiteMinder states that these values are above the average of neighbouring countries: “Only Spain and Italy, in second and third place, minimally compare to Portugal in the number of reservations in 2023, taking into account the numbers of the last three years”.

Data from Portugal in the month of June show an increase of 75.85% in bookings from foreign visitors compared to 24.15% from local tourism – in fact, “throughout this year, hotel bookings by local tourists do not exceed the 25% in any month”.

For the digital platform, “these good results are reinforced by the arrival of the summer holidays: 49% of the reservations made in Portugal in the last two weeks are to enjoy the months of June and July, while 23% correspond to August and 14% to September ”.

It also states that “the growth in the volume of hotel reservations in Portugal occurs in a context of rising accommodation prices in the country, which, according to data from SiteMinder, have increased by an average of 17% in the last four years”.
