The IPMA also placed around 50 municipalities in Faro, Beja, Santarém, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Lisbon, Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real and Bragança at very high risk.

Other municipalities in all districts on the mainland are now in high danger of fire. On the weekend, the amount of districts in maximum danger will decrease.

This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum and calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the year, the 4,406 occurrences of fire have already affected 9,660 hectares of rural areas.

The IPMA predicts that the continent today will be cloudy or have clear skies, periods of rain in the Minho and Douro Litoral from mid-morning, gradually extending to the central coast, light to moderate wind and a drop in maximum temperature .

Minimum temperatures will fluctuate today between 14 degrees Celsius (in Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real, Viseu and Leiria) and 23 (in Faro) and maximums between 22 (in Viana do Castelo) and 35 (in Castelo Branco).
