Insurance companies fear climate change may kill their business as France has been hit with drought and hailstorms this summer.

The hail has cost the nation €5.1 billion and has affected half of all French towns. The drought also imposes risks soil decay, leading to over 10 million French homes being at risk of being rendered uninhabitable. In comparison, weather-related insurance claims in the 1980s added up to just €1 billion a year.
