“Being part of this European Commission selection is proof and recognition of the intense work that has been done to be at the forefront and place Lisbon as a city of innovation”, said Mayor Carlos Moedas and reported by ECO.

“The candidacy [of the municipality] focuses on the aim of consolidating Lisbon as a Unicorn Factory, a flag for innovation”. And it was precisely under the theme “Lisbon Unicorn Capital” that the municipality presented a dossier to the European jury, containing a description of the work that it has been carrying out in the city of Lisbon so far.

This document is “illustrated and supported with statistical data and metrics in terms of innovation in the most diverse areas – environment, culture, economy, mobility“, describes the municipality that has no doubt that it is at the forefront in this matter.

“We are capable of being the best in many areas and we must embrace our ambition. Innovation is fundamental to the growth, competitiveness and development of our society”, maintains the municipality. In fact, he reiterates, “Lisbon is now a recognised stage in the area of innovation and has had an enormous capacity to attract companies and professionals from all over the world”.
