"As part of this opening, the company signed a collaboration protocol with the Soutelo Social Center. Food donations are part of one of the commitments that Mercadona maintains with Society: sharing part of what it receives from it. With this objective, the company develops its Social Responsibility Plan, which includes food donations from each of its stores", said the Spanish group, in a statement.

According to Mercadona, the "new store will donate, daily and from the first day, basic necessities to this entity, a Private Social Solidarity Institution that focuses its intervention on local communities and their people, contributing to promote and develop emerging social responses for the community, through Day Care, Day Care, Home Support, Food Support services, among others".
