The liquefied natural gas ship LNG Merak is expected to arrive in Sines at around 3pm, according to information on the Sines Port Administration (APS) website.

According to Expresso, this is the fourth shipment of Russian gas in Portugal this year.

It is worth remembering, however, that gas, unlike oil, was not included in Europe's sanctions on Russia following the war.

Last month, the Liberal Initiative (IL) sent a question to the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, about the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia, particularly after the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

On August 30, Jornal de Negócios reported that, by June of this year, national imports of Russian liquefied natural gas had grown to almost 200 million cubic meters.
