On Saturday, William Green (47), of Bective Square, Dublin 7, appeared in Dublin District Court before Judge Michele Finan.

Police Under section 13 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act 1951, Jeremy Gibbons accused him of causing unnecessary worry, irritation, or trouble to another person by making repeated phone calls on August 24th without a valid purpose.

The court-imposed terms on bail were accepted without opposition.

Mr. Green, who receives disability benefits, was told to abstain from alcohol, routinely check in at his neighbourhood Garda station, refrain from buying a cell phone, and “not contact 999 emergency services.”

Judge Finan remanded him on bail with instructions to appear again in December, pending guidance from the Director of Public Prosecutions, and cautioned him that the requirements must be followed.

Mr. Green, who has not yet entered a plea, was awarded legal assistance after his attorney, Kevin McCrave, submitted an application and said that his client was a qualified applicant. The judge observed that the Garda did not protest.

A month in jail is a potential punishment for the offence.
