According to REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais, the previous maximum had been recorded on January 16 of this year and was 106.3 GWh.

“Checking the production mix on that day, it can be seen that renewable production supplied 92% of daily consumption, which totaled 146 GWh”, pointed out REN, in a statement.

On October 17th, wind energy production also reached a new peak of 4,843 Megawatt (MW), at 2:30 am, surpassing the previous record of 4,785 MW, reached on March 3, 2022.

On average, REN said, wind production supplies around 25% of national electricity consumption.

Last week, the national system was without electricity production through gas for three days (between the 18th and 20th).
