The joint report by the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology (SPP) and the Portuguese Association of General and Family Medicine (APMGF), with the support of the company Sanofi, states that 48.1% of Portuguese people aged 65 or over have already been vaccinated, a percentage that rises to 66.3% among people aged 80 or over.
Of the population studied, 35.5% are women and 26.5 men, says the report.
The document, which monitors, through questionnaires, vaccination during the flu season, also shows that 48.9% of people with chronic diseases have already been vaccinated, including 55.9% of patients with diabetes and 50.1% of the population with cardiovascular disease.
Flu vaccines have also been administered to 35.3% of healthcare professionals in direct contact with patients.
With regard to pregnant women, the survey reveals vaccination coverage of 52.4%, with 72.2% doing so on a doctor's recommendation.
The document also notes that of the people aged 65 or over already vaccinated, 57.1% are from the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, 56.5% from the North region, 39.4% from the Azores, 39.3% from Alentejo, 34, 8% from the Algarve, 32.6% from the Central region and 32.4% from Madeira.
Of the total number of people vaccinated, 50.8% did so on a doctor's recommendation, 19.1% in the context of a work initiative, 14.7% on their own initiative and 9.9% because they received scheduling notification from the SNS.
The survey also states that 59.7% of people aged 65 or over who are not vaccinated intend to do so.
Regarding the co-administration of the flu vaccine with the Covid-19 vaccine, 83.1% of those vaccinated, belonging to the recommended groups, opted for co-administration.
