SATA Azores Airlines will bring forward the start of its direct operation between Montreal and Ponta Delgada to 4 April 2024, two months earlier than originally planned, with a weekly Thursday connection.
"By bringing forward the start date of this operation, we aim to improve the service provided to the Azorean communities living in Canada and to meet the demand we have already experienced," said Teresa Gonçalves, CEO of the SATA Group.
According to her, "the start of this operation also represents an important achievement for Azores Airlines, which can now count on a night time slot at Montreal International Airport, something that we have been trying to achieve for some time and which had already been identified as our customers' preference. The anticipation also provides an additional response to passengers who are increasingly and consistently using Azores Airlines' connections to reach the Azores and other European destinations to which the airline flies."
The direct weekly connection between the Azores and Montreal will take place on Thursdays between 4 April and 30 May, and will then be increased with three more connections a week. Thus, between June and September, the airline will operate four weekly connections, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The operation between Montreal and Ponta Delgada takes place at night, "which is more comfortable for passengers and increases the potential for connectivity on arrival in the Azores, through connecting flights on SATA Air Açores, which reach the other islands of the archipelago, as well as other European destinations operated by Azores Airlines", the airline said.
The flights depart from Ponta Delgada at 6.15pm and arrive in Montreal at 8.10pm (local time). In the opposite direction, the flight departs Montreal at 9.30pm and arrives in Ponta Delgada at 6.30am (local time) the following day.
In high season, Azores Airlines will have 15 weekly flights between Portugal (São Miguel and Terceira islands, Porto and Funchal) and Canada (Toronto and Montreal).
