“Adjustments will have to be made to sales prices, in order to mitigate increases in the costs of production factors”, said the president of the ACIP Supervisory Board, Helder Pires, without specifying figures.
In addition to the price of raw materials, salary costs have penalised the sector, which also indicates difficulties in hiring labour.
Despite noting that aggregate data on the sector is not yet available, the association indicated that this year there was a “slight growth” in bakery and pastry sales, justified by the increase in price.
For this Christmas, ACIP expects sales in similar quantities to 2022, with “equivalent or even higher” turnover.
Founded in 1975, in Coimbra, ACIP asserts itself as the country's most representative business association in the bakery and pastry sector, supporting socio-economic projects and initiatives.
