The business, which focuses on kidney, bladder, cancer, and transplant medications, plans to invest over €330 million in the brand-new, innovative facility situated on a 45-acre plot of land at the Tralee Technology Park.

The new facility would occupy a substantial portion of Kerry Technology Park in Tralee, Ireland, and be built on the greenfield property owned by the Industrial Development Authority. It is anticipated that construction will start in 2024, next to the MTU's northern campus.

The September announcements of the plans have been called a “game-changer” for Tralee and significant for the southwest and all of Ireland.

The approved designs call for a three-story structure with a total floor space of 17,000 square metres and a building footprint of around 7,300 square metres.

With operations in over 70 nations, Astellas now employs over 400 people at its long-standing production facilities in Dublin's Mulhuddart and Killorglin, as well as in its marketing and sales division in City West.

According to the IDA, in September, the development would lead to the creation of specialist engineering, scientific, and technology jobs in the area.

Jim Finucane, Fine Gael, the mayor of Kerry, called the proposals “a game changer for Tralee.”

Mr. Finucane declared, “It is the most important thing that has happened in decades.”

There are around twenty restrictions related to the planning, most of them have to do with the building stage.
