In a request signed by deputy Pedro Filipe Soares, BE addressed the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Mendes, questioning the reasons that led AIMA to delay “the conclusion of protocols with partner institutions and organisations, as well as the respective payments”.

“AIMA has not signed or is not signing the appropriate protocols with various organisations, making the transfers of funds infeasible for the continuation of its missions”, with one of the affected institutions being the CPR.

Due to not renewing the cooperation protocol, “the CPR was unable to pay the salaries of its workers in December, having only been able to “advance” around €160 to each one”, says the BE, which expressed many concerns.

“Reports show that due to the delays by AIMA, asylum seekers are also deprived of the support to which they are entitled, leaving them more vulnerable and unprotected”, writes BE.

The deputy considers that if confirmed “these facts are serious and in no way dignify the mission attributed to AIMA, and constitutes enormous irresponsibility on the part of this government”, especially because “CPR is a fundamental institution in welcoming refugees and asylum seekers, so it is incomprehensible as to why the Ministry has allowed the situation to reach this point”.
