Portugal de Norte a Sul has compiled a list of the 10 most expensive cities in Portugal, based on house prices per square meter. Six cities in the Algarve are part of this list, in which Lisbon appears at the top, given that the average price per square meter of houses in the capital exceeds 2,000 euros.

Cascais, Oeiras and Funchal are also some of the most expensive cities to live in, with the north of the country being one of the most affordable areas to live in.

Loulé is the third most expensive in the country, after Lisbon and Cascais. A square meter in Loulé costs 1,644 euros.

Lagos is the fourth most expensive city in the country. A square meter costs, on average, 1,550 euros.

In sixth place in this table is Albufeira, followed by Lagoa (7th), Tavira (8th) and Vila do Bispo (10th). In the latter, the price per square meter reaches 1,276 euros, just over half the price per square meter of a house in Lisbon. Tavira is the only city in the eastern Algarve among the most expensive to live in Portugal.
