According to provisional data provided by the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), the record is 1.3 pp above the average occupancy value in January 2019 before tourist activity was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the summary of the monthly evolution of activity in the sector, the markets that recorded the highest year-on-year growth were the Dutch, plus 0.5 (p.p.), the Polish (+0.4 p.p.) and the German (+0.3 p.p.).

The biggest drops compared to last year were seen in the national market, minus 1.4 pp and in the British market (-0.6 pp).

According to AHETA, the average stay in Algarve accommodation units was 4.4 nights, 0.2 pp more than in the same month of 2023.

In January, the longest average stays were those in the Swedish market, with 8.7 nights, followed by the Dutch, with 8.4 nights.
