New construction companies are highlighted (663), as the sector that had the highest year-on-year growth (6.1%), which occurs mainly in the North and Center regions, according to data from Informa D&B.

In the opposite direction are companies related to the real estate sector, with “only” 407 being incorporated in January, 6% less than in the same period last year.

“In January, the month that historically concentrates the highest number of constitutions, the decline in this indicator was transversal to almost all sectors of activity. The transport sector, which recorded very significant growth in 2022 and 2023, fell by 23% (-141 constitutions), while business services, the sector with the highest number of constitutions, fell by 15% (-143 constitutions)”, says the company in a statement.

“Construction and accommodation and restaurants were the only sectors with increases in business creation in January, compared to the same period last year. Construction has the biggest increase (6.1%), which occurs mainly in the North and Center regions”, reads the note.
