Billy Alexander received the Lawrence Medal for his Chelsea Flower Show show, The Ferns of Kells Bay Gardens, which won both the Gold Medal and the Best in Great Pavilion awards the previous year.
The highest honour an exhibitor can get for their work is the Lawrence Medal, which is given for the best exhibit presented to the organisation throughout the year.
In 2021, Mr Alexander was awarded a Chelsea Gold Medal for his development and restoration of Kells Bay House and Gardens in the Ring of Kerry.
"I am honoured to receive this award, which is proof of the high calibre of Irish horticulture and a tribute to the wonderful ferns that grow so contentedly at Kells Bay," he said. I'm happy that so many people witnessed the display and realised how much the ferns' simplicity, elegance, and beauty can improve any garden."
The award was given out at the London event of the Annual RHS Awards.
Additionally, Billy Alexander has been added to the RHS Judges Panel.
Billy delivers tree ferns to botanic gardens in France, Britain, and Ireland in addition to creating award-winning garden displays.
