The deputies of the Socialist Party elected by the Algarve, Jamila Madeira, Jorge Botelho and Luís Graça, are subscribers to Bill No. 72/XVI, authored by the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, which aims to eliminate toll fees on the Via do Infante and on sections and sub-sections of motorways in the Interior (ex-SCUT) or where there are no alternative routes that allow quality and safe use.

“The proposal that constituted one of the main points of the Socialist Party’s electoral commitment to the 2024 legislative elections, follows the successive discounts during the PS Government that allowed an overall reduction in tolls that was greater than 60%”, says the PS Algarve in a statement.

The socialists recall that “in 2015, with the PSD / CDS Government, crossing Via do Infante from Lagos to Vila Real de Santo António cost €11.60 while with the Socialist Party Government, it currently costs €4.65”.

For the PS deputies elected by the Algarve “after a reduction of more than 60% in the cost of tolls and with the improvement of the country's financial conditions, which presented a budget surplus at the end of 2023, the end of tolls on Via do Infante and old Scuts from the interior is a measure of justice that naturally imposes itself”.
