The Wolfe Tones, legendary performers of traditional Irish music, surprised 200 uninvited guests with a surprise performance at The Faltering Fullback, a beloved Irish bar in London, on Sunday, April 28. Fontaines D.C. and Aisling Bea, two more Irish legends, were in attendance that evening.

The Wolfe Tones, who have thrilled audiences with their soul-stirring songs and passionate anthems for 60 years, delighted the audience with an intimate performance.

The group played a number of well-known songs, including “My Heart Is in Ireland,” as well as a brand-new song that served as a moving send-off to their devoted followers before they embarked on their farewell tour.

This July 5th, their historic farewell performance in Finsbury Park, London, promises to be the UK's biggest celebration of traditional Irish music.

The Wolfe Tones, an Irish trio consisting of Tommy Byrne, Brian Warfield, and Noel Nagle, revealed their farewell tour on their website last year.

“We intend to celebrate The Wolfe Tones' incredible 60-year career with a fitting tribute in 2024, as their fans in Ireland and around the globe bid farewell to arguably the most loved balladeers in the world,” they stated. “All great things must come to an end.”

In March 2024, they played a series of “farewell” events in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. In October of the same year, they would celebrate their 60th anniversary with special concerts in Belfast and Dublin.

The Wolfe Tones have seen a renaissance in popularity in recent months, despite their formation being almost sixty years ago, partly due to a younger fan base.

The Irish band has over 452k average monthly listeners on Spotify.
