“We are attentive and the situation will have to be resolved very soon”, Margarida Blasco told journalists in Ourém (Santarém), where she was at the presentation of the Special Rural Fire Fighting Device for 2024.
Asked about how the Government will resolve this situation, the minister acknowledged that it was a “human issue”, which concerns everyone.
“And, therefore, the Government will, with all certainty, as soon as possible, resolve this situation”, she declared.
Faced with the news, from Rádio Renascença, that a 9-year-old Nepalese boy was a “victim of lynching” at a school in Lisbon, Margarida Blasco declared that “all crimes, and especially hate crimes, are of immense gravity ”.
“What I can say is that, together with the police authorities, we will reinforce both policing in schools and proximity policing”.
“As a Government, and we, in the Ministry of Internal Administration together with the Ministry of Education, with the Ministry of Health, intend to carry out faster, more effective programs to alleviate these situations”, said Margarida Blasco.
According to Renascença, a 9-year-old boy, of Nepalese nationality, was violently attacked by other classmates at a school in Lisbon, at the beginning of this year.
The complaint was made to the radio by the executive director of a Church institution, Centro Padre Alves Correia, who considered “the motivations of the other minors were xenophobic and racist”.
