During the first quarter, total income grew by 15 percent and income from accommodation increased by 15.2 percent, "as a result of the 7.1 percent growth in overnight stays in this period (+3 .9 percent for residents and +8.7 percent for non-residents)".

In this way, total income reached €912.7 million and those related to accommodation amounted to €670.5 million.

Between January and March this year, overnight stays reached 13.5 million and registered a growth of 7.1 percent (+3.9 percent for residents and +8.7 percent for non-residents), which corresponded to increases of 15 percent in total income and 15.2 percent in accommodation.

Considering most accommodation facilities (tourist accommodation establishments, camping and holiday camps, and youth hostels), there were 2.4 million guests and 6.1 million overnight stays in March, corresponding to growth of 12.2 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively.

That month, overnight stays from residents increased by 10.9 percent, and overnight stays from non-residents increased by 13.8 percent.

INE highlighted that these results were influenced by the holiday period associated with Easter, which this year was spread between March and April, while in the previous year, it was concentrated only in April.

In March, the municipality of Lisbon accounted for 23.2 percent of total overnight stays (11.4 percent of total overnight stays by residents and 27.9 percent by non-residents), with the municipalities of Lagoa and Portimão also standing out, for more expressive growth, of 45.6 percent and 19.8 percent, respectively.
