The Alentejo World Heritage Festival, organised by Égide and Lar Doce Lar, will take place in a village inside the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo at the end of June and aims to combine Alentejo singing with lyrical song and Fado with Cape Verdean music. The festival, which is in its second edition, has as its main highlight the concert of the Fado singer Carminho.

The festival will take place on the 28, 29 and 30 of June. Besides Carminho’s concert on the 28 June, children’s performances will also take place on that day. On 29 June, the main performance is scheduled for 9.30 pm with Nancy Vieira, a Cabo Verdean singer stilling the spotlight. Moreover, a piano and singing recital with Camões's poems performed by soprano Susana Gaspar and pianist Nuno Vieira de Almeida, commemorating the poet's 500th birthday is saved for the last day of the festival.

Taking into consideration last year’s festival held in August 2023, which “worked well from the point of view of spectators and the impact on the region”, David Lopes one of the event’s organisers said that the promoters will repeat the model, with “a slightly different outfit”. As he highlighted, “Last year, the musical expression invited to join Fado and Alentejo singing was Flamenco. This year, it will be the ‘mornas’, a special type of music from Cape Verde.

The festival, which has seen a change in the month that will take place, in comparison with the last edition, will also change its location to the town centre, with events and performances held at Largo Dr. Pascoal Coelho, the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, and Casa do Povo de Cabrela. Other activities like crafts, culinary, and cultural exhibitions are also part of the programme.
