According to provisional data provided by the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), the occupancy rate of accommodation units was 74.5% in May, compared to 70.6% in the same month of 2023.

According to the monthly summary of the evolution of the hotel industry prepared by AHETA, the markets that recorded the highest year-on-year growth were the Dutch and Irish, with 1.5 pp more, and Germany, with 0.8 pp more.

The biggest drops compared to May 2023 were recorded in the French market (-1.3 pp) and the Belgian market (-0.4 pp).

On the other hand, the average stay was 4.4 nights in the Algarve hotel industry, 0.2 more than in the same month of 2023.

The longest average stays were recorded in the Dutch market (6.9 nights), the German market (5.8), and the Irish market (5.4).
