Oslo was ranked as the most stressful city for drivers, followed by Lisbon in second, Milan in third, and finally London and Budapest in fourth and fifth place respectively.
The study methodology is based on measuring the heart rate of a typical driver on the streets of the city. This compares the heart rate at rest and when driving. The data was then cross-referenced with the opinions of motorists and motorcyclists in forums, where road conditions, parking, and other topics are discussed.
Driving in Lisbon was described as being “a challenge, given its hilly terrain and narrow streets in the historic centre. Also, along the main roads, traffic congestion can be one of the other problems”.
According to this ranking, Lisbon has a difference of 36 points between heart rate at rest and driving. However, for those looking for alternatives to private vehicles, “Lisbon offers an excellent network of buses, trams, and metro, as well as funiculars and elevators”.
No mention at all of the terrible driving of Lisbon drivers, driving way too close behind people at speed, tailgating, and speeding z undertaking, attempting to overtake whilst in the fast lane to move just 1 car length ahead . The massive lack of police enforcement of any road rules creates stupid, arrogant and dangerous driving
Amazing this article missed out on the most obvious driving issues in Lisbon

My heart rate elevate too when I try to cross over the street, you have triple check if a driver don't understand that red light for him/her is red light for him/her! Indeed the lack of enforcing the rule of the road will not lead to any impact on the behavior improvement of many drivers. Only fines and losing driver licenses will change the mentality.

Well said Tom! Worst drivers in Western Europe by a mile in my humble opinion...

Good thing Lisbon has very good public transportation, try driving here in Puerto Rico, with almost inexistent public transportation.

Guys, are you sure? have you been in any of big EU cities recently? Athens, for example. Lisbon is normal, especially, if we count 7 hills :)

Please, I am from the US and after living here for 30 years I am more afraid when I am back in the US. People drive insane there crossing lanes at 80 mph back and forth. Lisbon is child’s play in comparison.
