The campaign, called “The best footprint leaves no mark”, aims to encourage holidaymakers to enjoy bathing areas “responsibly”, avoiding discarding waste that ends up in the sea on the beach, EMARP said in a statement.

According to the municipal company that manages water and waste in Portimão, in the district of Faro, the initiative “aims to draw attention to the global problem of marine litter, promoting the reduction of waste that is usually transported to the beach, particularly single-use plastic”.

At the same time, it aims to raise awareness about the correct use of recycling bins available on beaches and the selective separation of recyclable waste.
