At Carregal do Sal, a prehistoric burial monument measuring over six metres in diameter and that is around 3,000 years old has been found. The tomb, which is possible to visit by scheduling a time slot at the Manuel Soares de Albergaria Municipal Museum, is basically defined by the presence of a little, man-made elevation on the ground that is only a few decimetres high.

The municipality highlighted in a statement to Lusa how significant features such as the tomb's architecture, offerings, and procedures show a society's culture and how it changes over time. “Recently, the municipality’s archaeologist discovered yet another funerary monument located close to Orca dos Fiais da Telha, in the territory belonging to the Parish of Oliveira do Conde”, explained the Chamber of Carregal do Sal.

“As a result of land prospecting actions undertaken by the municipality’s archaeologist, with the discovery of this unprecedented monument, there are now three funerary structures of this type and period” in the municipality. If you are looking for more things to discover in the area you can also visit the Troviscos Dolmen and the Orquinha da Víbora which are “unequivocal testimonies of the funerary practices of the late Bronze Age in Beira Alta”.
