According to the Minister of Youth and Modernisation, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, the “first council of ministers for digital transition and modernization will take place later this month” highlighting that “the simplification and de-bureaucratization program is one of the priorities” of the executive.
During the second semester, the digital strategy for the country will also be presented, said the minister.
“We cannot move forward with other documents and other strategies that are not aligned with what will be the country's digital strategy until 2030”, explained Balseiro Lopes, who also announced the reactivation of the advisory board of the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA).
The objective is to “standardize the way these services respond to citizens” in Lojas do Cidadão and Espaços Cidadão.
The AMA management was fired about a month ago and the minister explained that the decision was due, among other issues, to non-compliance with the investment schedule of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which includes funds worth 348 million euros.
There was a “70% non-compliance with the implementation of the PRR”, the “directive board was functioning irregularly” due to the lack of a member and there was a human resources problem.
“It is very important to treat people well and it is not normal, in two years, for 80 people to leave”, considered Margarida Balseiro Lopes.
“The national strategy for digital” will include “an action plan that implements” the measures until 2030, seeking to “make public services more efficient” and “promoting digital inclusion”, among other matters.
“We want to build a society capable of the future”, with a “more effective public administration, centered on citizens and companies”, she added.
