According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), release, Lisbon airport handled 13.6 million passengers until May, which corresponds to 52% of the total and a growth of 5.6% compared to the same period last year.

Porto airport accounted for 22.8% of the total number of passengers handled (around 6 million; +5.6%), while Faro airport registered a growth of 2.6% in passenger movement, totalling 3.2 million.

The United Kingdom was the main country of origin and destination for flights, having recorded growth in the number of passengers disembarked (+2.4%) and embarked (+2.8%) compared to the same period in 2023.

Conversely, France recorded decreases in the number of passengers disembarked (-2.1%) and embarked (-2.4%) and occupied second place, followed by Spain, Germany and Italy.

In that period, there was a 13.1% growth in the movement of cargo and mail at national airports (-0.6% in 2023), with the movement of goods at Lisbon airport representing 77.1% of the total, reaching 78,600 tons (+16.7% compared to the same period in 2023).
