“The flow to the beach has been normal and without constraints. The constraints that exist are those that were already caused by the old bridge”, said Rogério Bacalhau, mayor of Faro, in an interview with Sul Informação.

It was also due to these constraints that it was concluded that a new infrastructure was needed to respond to the movement in that area.

On the current bridge, as there is only one lane, traffic runs alternately, which sometimes leads to long queues, especially during peak hours of access to the bathing area.

With “all the decks already in place” and the works taking place on schedule, Rogério Bacalhau states that the bridge should be completed “within three or four months”.

The new bridge at Praia de Faro will be around 180 metres long and have a deck 11 meters wide, which will include two lanes for car circulation and two pedestrian walkways, one of them combining pedestrian and cycling components.
