According to a report released by the European Commission, Portugal is one of the countries in the community bloc that has successfully implemented the 5G network with better coverage in terms of territory and speed – it is among 3.4 and 3.8 Gigahertz (GHz).

In this aspect, “Portugal is a pioneer in the 5G network in the [European] Union with 65.2% of Portuguese homes with coverage”.

The digitalisation of health in Portugal is also above the European average (86% nationally compared to 79.1% in the bloc's countries as a whole) and has grown 40% since last year.

However, Portugal has two digital “weaknesses”: the level of digital skills of the population is just over half (56%), despite being slightly above the European average (55.6%), but it has grown very little in recent years.

Furthermore, the percentage of people specialised in information technologies is slightly below the European average (4.5% in Portugal and 4.8% in the 27 countries).
