In the second quarter of this year, around 14% of houses for rent advertised on idealista were on the market for less than 24 hours.

In this analysis of “express rentals” in Portugal - those for rent that are advertised on idealista for less than a day - it is possible to conclude that houses with the most affordable rents tend to be rented faster. This is because, nationally, around 31% of houses costing up to 750 euros/month left the market in less than 24 hours.

As expected, the percentage of express rentals decreases as the range of house rents increases. In other words, the higher the rental value, the longer the house takes to be rented. Around 17% of houses with rents between 750 and 1,000 euros/month went off the market in less than a day. Only 11% of homes with rents between 1,000 and 1,500 euros/month were rented so quickly. And only 6% of houses priced above 1,500 euros per month were rented in less than 24 hours.

Analysing the eight district capitals with the highest supply of houses for rent in the second quarter of this year, Setúbal was the city where the percentage of houses rented in less than 24 hours was highest, reaching 27% of total operations. Next are Funchal (20%), Leiria (17%), Coimbra (17%), Aveiro (17%), Braga (16%), Porto (13%) and Lisbon (11%).
