“The whole world fits into our three countries! And that’s how it will be in 2030! We will organise a World Cup that will leave a lasting mark and set new standards for the future of the competition! This is our ambition and commitment! We want to celebrate the history of the competition while also looking after its future and its modernity”, said the president of the FPF, Fernando Gomes, at the ceremony.

The project of the three countries, driven by the slogan “YallaVamos”, which aims to leave its mark “for football, for the world, and for the future”, was personally delivered to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“The application dossier that is being submitted here anticipates a future agenda, which includes the environmental aspect as a structuring pillar of the event, which combines the needs of the competition with the expectations and future of the cities and populations where the World Cup will be played, which promotes inclusion and diversity as a solid foundation on which our entire proposal is based”, added the Portuguese leader.

The 2030 World Cup will be played, for the first time, on three continents, and, in addition to Europe and Africa, it will also pass through South America, more specifically Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, which will host three matches in the final phase, as a way of celebrating the centenary of the competition, whose first edition took place in Uruguay in 1930.

The federations of Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, the three host countries, reinforced the idea of leaving a true legacy in terms of sustainability, innovation, investment and social impact.

The document details the vision and technical planning for transport, accommodation and security, as well as presenting the host cities and proposed stadiums.

“Your three countries have already contributed a lot to football. You have a great passion for the game, great organisational skills and a shared vision of what football should be and its values! It is fantastic that you have brought together two continents in order to achieve the dream of organising the FIFA World Cup. Football unites the world and this bid proves that”, praised the FIFA president.

The three Portuguese stadiums that will host matches at the 2030 World Cup will be the Estádio da Luz, the Estádio José Alvalade, both in Lisbon, and the Estádio do Dragão, in Porto.

In addition, the Estádio da Luz - the only one of the three with a minimum capacity of 60,000 - will host one of the semi-finals of the competition, revealed the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Fernando Gomes.
