The more than 40 municipalities at maximum risk belong to the districts of Faro, Santarém, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Viseu, Vila Real and Bragança, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The orange warning for thunderstorms is activated for all districts in the south, including Lisbon, with the remaining districts under a yellow warning.

The entire mainland territory is also facing a yellow warning for precipitation.

There is also a yellow warning due to the heat in the districts of Bragança, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre.

Castelo Branco, with 40 degrees, will be the district where temperatures will be highest.
