The municipality of Cartaxo has announced that the Cartaxo City Council has donated land in Quinta das Pratas for the development of “collaborative and community housing,” with an estimated cost of €933 thousand. The project, which has been approved and funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), will contain 11 flats that can accommodate up to 30 people.

The new infrastructure, which aims to "combat the isolation of people in situations of greater social vulnerability, such as the elderly or people with disabilities," was made possible by a partnership between CERCI Flor da Vida and the municipality of Cartaxo, which is located in the Santarém district, according to a statement released by the council.

The Cartaxo Council also emphasises in the note that the facilities that will be constructed at the Quinta das Pratas Sports and Cultural Complex will ensure "the inclusion and autonomy of residents through technical and operational support services," thereby assisting in the promotion of a balance between "individual and family accommodation”.

The statement mentions that the infrastructure "will allow the development of new responses in the health area" and generate "a social response that does not exist in the territory," according to João Ferreira Heitor, the president of the Cartaxo Municipal Council. The project is expected to start this year and be completed by the end of 2025.
