“With a total of 12,000 square metres of built area, the new facilities will represent a 700% increase in relation to the current 1,500 square metres of Topbrands facilities in the municipality of Moita”, the Portuguese company said in a statement.
As for the production area, this will increase from 500 square metres to 2,000 square metres.
With over 5,000 product references, Topbrands is dedicated to producing products adapted to the seasons of the year, ranging from toys, party decorations, home products, textiles and garden furniture, and which are present in several retail chains.
The construction of the new facilities will be divided into four phases “over the next five years”, with the first starting this year and “expected to be completed by next summer, allowing the gradual move to the new structures to begin in 2024”, indicates Topbrands, in a statement.
The company currently has 35 employees, but with the move from Moita to Montijo, both in the district of Setúbal, it expects to create “up to 50 new direct jobs in several areas”, namely Operations, Product Management, Quality, Key Account and IT/Software Development, which will allow the team to expand to a total of 85 employees.
According to the company, this project “reflects the growth of the toy, childcare, barbecue and outdoor living company, as well as its commitment to sustainability and innovation”.
During the first half of the year, Topbrands had a turnover of three million euros and expects to close the year with a turnover of 10 million euros, after having a turnover of 6.9 million euros in 2023. According to the CEO, the goal is to reach 20 million euros in sales in 2026, on the back of international expansion.
In addition to Portugal, the Portuguese company has a presence in Angola and is in negotiations to enter the Polish market this year. In the medium term, Morocco, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Cyprus and Mozambique are on the radar.
