In a statement, the Navy reported that in the area corresponding to the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), 21 incidents were recorded, with 18 people being rescued.

In the area of ​​the MRCC of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores, those responsible were involved in 11 search and rescue operations, with 10 people being rescued.

On the island of Madeira, at the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Sub-Centre in Funchal, two of these operations were coordinated, resulting in the rescue of a citizen.

The Navy also highlighted the support provided by merchant ships and fishing vessels, stating that they “divert from their commercial routes and interrupt their professional activity to provide the necessary assistance”, always coordinated by the national centers MRCC Lisboa and Delgada.
