According to a report by Publituris, the Association states that, at the beginning of 2024, it sent a letter of demand to Ryanair's CFO DAC, Tracey McCann, explaining the difficulties that travel agencies are experiencing in providing services to their end customers, “as a result of abusive commercial or legal practices by the airline Ryanair in the Portuguese market”.

The legal action with the Competition Authority is already underway, but, “given the high costs it entails”, ANAV has decided to make a general appeal to travel agencies and third parties that can contribute to this process being carried out.

Miguel Quintas, president of ANAV, points out that “Portuguese travel agencies continue to find it very difficult to provide a quality service to their end customers whenever that service involves selling Ryanair flights”, so “we will be consistent in defending the rights of travel agencies and we will do our part, moving forward with the legal action to which we have committed”. However, he believes: “We need everyone’s support and contribution to leverage this process”.
