According to this week's DGS report, since the start of the 2024/2025 seasonal vaccination campaign, a total of 521,713 people have received the booster dose against Covid-19, 336,354 of whom in pharmacies and the remaining 185,356 in National Health Service (SNS) units.
Regarding the flu, of the 722,407 people vaccinated up until last Sunday, 218,704 were vaccinated in pharmacies and 149,957 in health centres.
The third weekly report from the DGS also points to an increase in the vaccination rate in the last seven days, with almost 270 thousand people vaccinated against Covid-19 and almost 370 thousand against the flu.
The age group of 85 or over has the highest vaccination coverage, 22.14% for Covid-19 and 27.44% for the flu.
On the other hand, only 11.52% of people between 60 and 69 years of age had received the Covid-19 booster dose, a coverage that rises to 15.78% for the flu in this age group.
The seasonal vaccination campaign began on 20 September, with almost five million vaccines against flu and Covid-19 to be administered.
This year, 25 more pharmacies joined, totaling 2,519, which will work in conjunction with health centres, administering vaccines to patients aged between 60 and 84 and their healthcare professionals.
In the 2024/2025 campaign, the booster dose of the flu vaccination will be extended to people aged 85 and over, in addition to people living in nursing homes, similar establishments and the national network of integrated continuing care (RNCCI).
The Government will spend 7.6 million euros on vaccinations against Covid-19 and flu in pharmacies and aims to have more people vaccinated by the end of November than in 2023.
