This unique event highlights Weis's exploration of Portuguese culture and Pessoa’s profound literary legacy.

Described as an authentic and magical musical tapestry, the collaboration showcases 11 of Fernando Pessoa’s poems, set to music by Weis, with contributions from Grammy Awards winner Terry Britten and Portuguese jazz artist Carlos Barreto. “Soul Whisper” draws inspiration from Pessoa’s life, tracing his journey from South Africa to Lisbon’s Alfama district.

Weis, who has worked with music legends such as Michael Bublé and Bobby McFerrin, found new inspiration in Pessoa’s writing, stating that they transformed her perspective on life. The performance will combine jazz, folk, Americana, and traditional Portuguese sounds, creating a captivating backdrop for her vocals.

Debuting in Portugal and later performed in Canada, “Soul Whisper” will come to life at Pizza Express Soho, featuring the Pedro Velasco Trio and special guest Julian Joseph (OBE). Actor Luis Filipe Eusébio will narrate the story behind the project and recite selected poems in English and Portuguese.

As she brings her music to the London Jazz Festival, on November 17, Weis expresses gratitude for the support she’s received, particularly from Pessoa’s late nephew, Luis Miguel Rosa Dias. She hopes the audience will leave feeling a deeper connection to Portuguese culture and the extraordinary poet Fernando Pessoa.
