“Manchester United expressed interest in hiring coach Rúben Amorim, with the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD referring the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the Company and the coach, specifically the respective termination clause and for the amount of 10 million euros (ME)“, reads the statement from Sporting.
Rúben Amorim is, at the age of 39, in his seventh season as a coach, on a journey that began at Casa Pia and spent time at Sporting de Braga, before, in 2019/20, arriving at the 'Lions', in exchange for the 10 ME from the transfer termination clause.
“Manchester United expressed interest in paying Sporting SAD the value of the aforementioned clause”, concluded Sporting, who today host Nacional, for the quarter-finals of the League Cup, and lead, after nine rounds, the I League.
The former Portuguese international midfielder has two national champion titles (2020/21 and 2023/24), three League Cups (2019/20, with Sporting de Braga, 2020/21 and 2021/22) and a Cândido Oliveira Super Cup ( 2021 /22).
